Food Tasting

Highlight of the day

  • Among the food tasting there will be a soup referred to as B’ssara made of Fava beans, garlic, olive oil and cumin.
  • You will also taste one of the Morocco’s favourites flatbread Called Messemen you can have this one eaten with butter, honey or Amlou (a spread made out of almond, argan oil and honey)   
  • Lham Rass is basically small portions of steamed sheeps head and the vendors cut small portions to give you a taste. This is an optional tasting for those who want an adventurous experience.
  • Babbouch or snail soup is a typical dish served in the big square mostly characterized by its nice smell. You can drink just the broth if you don’t want to eat. The snail broth is a mixture of anise, thyme and licorice. 
  • Sfenj (Moroccan Donuts) and Mint tea. Moroccan donuts are deep fried, slightly crispy from the outside and soft on the inside. You can have it with mint tea that is made out of green tea and brewed with fresh mint leaves plus some sugar to add sweetness.
  • walk through the busy place of Jemaa el Fenaa to a local spices shop to see and smell a variety of spices used in Moroccan cuisine.

This tour is going to take place in Jemaa el Fnaa, the big square of Marrakech. and it is done in the evening when food quarts and street food are served in the big square. In this tour, you will be assisted by your guid,e who will help you taste different kinds of Moroccan delicacies. At the end of this food experience, you will visit a spice shop to have an idea about the various herbs and spices used in Moroccan food.

In the evening and after the sun sets, the big square of Jemaa el Fna bursts with street food of all kinds, and everyone is inviting people to their shops and carts to try what they have made. This is a good chance for you to go out there and try one of the best cuisines in the world, Moroccan cuisine. Of course, with your guide, you shall have a walk in that charming place with its lights hanging everywhere to go and have a taste of what that place can offer you.
